response from Karen

Casey is driving......OMG. Are we getting old or what?! Just make sure he knows it's NOT ok to take the road by the golf course and try to jump the hole. LOL. Congrats Casey!!

Road collasped near our home.

This is one of the roads we used to get to hiway 200. It comes out by the golf course. The mud slid down onto the golf course. For a little while we had a waterfall. The golf course is flooded again as is the road that we take out of town. We are back to taking the long way around to work and school.

Casey passed his test!

Casey and Kelly went to Bismarck yesterday to have Casey take his permit test.  I am happy to announce he passed.  You should see his picture,  he has the biggest smile.  CONGRATULATIONS CASEY!

Megan has been making purses also. She made one for Alicia for her birthday. This is Megan's. She is able to put her DS in it and also puts the games in the credit card holders on the inside. Very easy and fun for her to do.

Last but not least here is a bag I made for a graduation gift. It is suppose to hold a laptop. I hope the person likes it.

This is a large bag and I made it for Megan's end of the year Teacher's gift. I saw it in a magazine and loved the black & white. So I ordered two kits not looking at the size of the bag. It is pretty big. I hope she can use it. I have not made the other one yet as I don't know what I would do with it. I just have to sew on a button on the flap and this is done.

Here are a couple more pictures of purses I have made recently. The green one is Barb's and the other is Janel's.

Ladies with a Purse-n-ality!

Our church is having a fundraiser on May 6th. It is called "Ladies with a Purse-n-ality". This is the second year they have done this. I was not able to attend last year but heard it was alot of fun. The event consist of dinner, entertainment, doorprizes and auctioning of purses filled with different themes. The ladies of the church donate money to purchase the purses and things to fill them. It is opened to everyone in the communities. The cost is $10 to attend. This year I decided that I would make a purse for the event. Here is a picture of the purse. The girls at the bank all were trying to get me to make another one and sell them this one.

AAAAAUUUUGGGGHHHH! I am so sick of this snow! Kelly left for work this morning at 4:45 ct. At 5 he called me and said he was stuck. I went to help him we were out there over an hour in the blowing snow digging the little truck out. You would think the county would come and plow this road as it is one of very few roads you can use to get to town. By the time we got him out two of our neighbors came by and then they followed each other the rest of the way. I guess there was one other bad spot. If no one else travels threw by the time we go it will be blown shut. I pray that all of you reading this are safe from the floods and snow.

Today the bridge I had to take to get home on Monday collasped. It is on alternate 200 going towards Pick City. They had it blocked off when I came home from work so I didn't get any pictures. I guess they were talking about it on the tv but Kelly & the kids didn't see it.

These are pictures of the newest additions to our house. Lilly was found in a tree while I was walking with a friend in town this past August. Her tail is really fluffy and she is so soft. Then Tag (Siamese Snowshoe) was Kelly's sister's kitten. It was breaking things at her house and asked if we would to take him. He is about 6 months and Lilly is about 8. They love playing together. These beds were made for them to sleep inside. Lilly one day pushed the top down and now that is how they sleep in them.

I took these pictures right outside my office door. You can see how high the snow is when a truck drove by.

Here are a couple of pictures of Megan trying to dig out the back door. She didn't have much luck as the snow was really heavy.

Entrance to Hazen.

This is the golf course.

This picture is of Beulah.

These pictures are of the bridge that we usually take to go home.

The first picture is Hwy 200 RR Tracks to Hazen
The second is

To the RR Tracks
The kids did not have school yesterday and I couldn't make it to work. They do not have school again today and I am going to try and go to work. I don't know if Kelly is going to drive me or if I will try myself. I guess the road going into town by the golf course is now open so instead of a 40 min. drive it will be a 20 min. + depending on how deep the snow is on the road. The plows can't get through to plow the roads. We received about 12 inches of snow in the last couple of days. Hopefully it doesn't warm up to fast. Kelly's sister lives on Fox Island in Bismarck and had to be removed from their home. They are staying at her parents for now. Waiting for the ice jam to break and the water to go down. What a mess and it is only beginning. I will keep you up to date as things happen. Hope all of you are safe where you are.

Today we made it to work and school. The buses did not run. The water is now up to railroad tracks going out of town. The bridge on the east side of town by the golf course is flooded. That road is now closed. I had to drive north from Tesoro and then east and back south to get to the crossroads to take the back road home. We only live 3.5 miles out of town but it took me over 40 minutes to get home. The last bridge going to Pick City is close to being closed. They have cancelled school for tomorrow. I may not be able to get to work. This is worse than 1997-98. Here are a few more photos.

When we tried to get to our house the Knife River just south of town was flooding the road that we take home. We had to go clear out to the Cross Roads and take the back way home only to find 4 more spots where water was running over the road. I guess the bus won't be picking the kids up tomorrow. Hopefully I can get to work and the kids to school. There is still alot more snow to melt. Haven't seen this since spring of 1998.
Hello Everyone! It has been along time since anyone has posted. We just came back from a skiing trip in Montana. We had a great time. The snow was the best the first day. The second day it started out icy and then went to slush in a short time. we had 60-70 degree weather. On the way home we even had to turn the air on. When we hit North Dakota the temperature continued to fall down to 43. I am posting some pictures nothing to great as Kelly remembered the camera the last hour of the last day. The kids were getting tired of standing in different spots to take pictures.
